BBQ sauce with a secret ingredient

You will love this sauce with red meat, chicken, vegetables, and potatoes. We will explain what makes this BBQ sauce so exceptionally delicious! The tartness from the redcurrants perfectly balances the sweet and spicy character of the BBQ sauce. Subtly present; bet no one can guess what your secret ingredient is?



Makes 1 small jar



 Half an onion
1 garlic clove
1 tomato
1 can of concentrated tomato puree
1 tbsp brown sugar
1 tsp honey
2 tbsp paprika powder (smoked)
1 tsp mustard
1 tsp soy sauce
Half a tsp oregano
Half a tsp cumin
200 ml of water
Tbsp of sunflower oil
Handful Beekers Berries redcurrants

Step 1: Cut the tomato, onion, and garlic into small cubes.
Step 2: Caramelize the onion in a thin layer of oil with salt in the pan.
Step 3: Add the tomato cubes and let it simmer for a few minutes. Press the tomato against the bottom of the pan with the back of a spoon. If you can easily puree it this way, continue to step 4.
Step 4: Add the content of the can of tomato pasta and a tablespoon of brown sugar and let it simmer for a few more minutes while stirring.
Step 5: Add 200 ml water, mustard, soy sauce, garlic, pepper, paprika powder, oregano, and cumin and let it simmer for 5 minutes while stirring.
Step 6: Add a handful of Beekers Berries redcurrants (without twigs), together with the honey, to the sauce.
Step 7: Leave the mixture on low fire for another 10 minutes with the lid on the plan.
Step 8: Pour the sauce (still hot) into the preserving jar and close it.
